THE 9 BEST ROOFTOP BARS IN DC
Enjoying a beautiful view with a drink in your hand is one of the best reasons to attend one of Washington DC’s many rooftop bars. In our everyday lives sometimes we can lose sight of just how beautiful the city is and need a little reminder with a bird’s eye view.
1. P.O.V. Rooftop Lounge and Terrace
This upscale rooftop bar is open year round and is known for its eccentric cocktails and delectable brunches after a long night out with friends. P.O.V. offers one of the best views of the city, overlooking most of Washington’s monuments including the White House.
2. Jack Rose Dining Saloon
Think you know your whiskey? Test your whiskey knowledge and taste buds at this fine American bar. With over 2,000 bottles of whiskey lining the restaurant’s walls, you’re bound to discover something new!
3. The Embassy Row Hotel
Equipped with lounge furniture and a large crystal clear pool, you can enjoy your summer days and evenings on the roof of this unique hotel. Hotel guests have free access to the rooftop amenities but it’s also open to the public for $30. Make sure to take advantage of this rare find from May to September!
4. The Big Hunt
Whoever gave dive bars a bad rep obviously has not spent a night at The Big Hunt in DuPont circle. Cheap drinks, $3.50 beer specials during happy hour, a great view of the city, and 25 cent wings on Tuesday nights, who could ask for more? This is a great bar if you are looking for something that won’t break the bank!
5. Biergarten Haus
Oktoberfest is celebrated year-round at this Bavarian-themed bar with two outdoor patios and four bar areas and an extensive selection of German beers. Not only is the beer authentic, but the bratwurst and pretzels fail to disappoint!
6. Beacon Sky Bar
This rooftop bar is perfect if you are looking for a place to enjoy happy hour with friends or colleagues after work. With a grand selection of beers, spirits, and non-traditional bar food this will likely become a go-to spot to relax.
7. Red Derby
We all have those nights that we just want to hang out and have some fun with a group of friends while we enjoy a quiet night out. Red Derby is the perfect place to enjoy a large selection of decently priced food and beer while playing board games.
8. Hawthorne
Sophisticated and delicious this bar specializes in seafood dishes and cocktails. Equipped with a glass retractable roof so patrons can enjoy the rooftop view in any weather or season.
9. The Observatory
Located on the roof of The Graham Hotel in Georgetown, guests can experience the view of a lifetime. Unfortunately, it’s only open in the summer so guests will have to enjoy warm summer nights while they last.
