New year. New you. Or so you hope. It’s hard to keep those New Year’s resolutions, especially the most popular: losing weight and getting fit. We’ve come up with some skinny cocktails and tips to keep your resolution while still going out on the weekends and having a good time.


1-2 Drinks

 Stick to just one or two drinks per day or night. More than that will lower your inhibitions and may cause you to drink too much or overeat greasy foods. (Who doesn’t love drunk pizza?)

Stay Away from Mixed Drinks

 You’d be surprised at how many calories are packed into that Sour Apple Martini you order during happy hour. With tons of sugar and a mixture of liquors that number can add up and also leave you with a wicked hangover.

White or Red Wines

 I get it, sometimes at the end of the day you need a glass or two of wine. Try to drink dry white or red wines. Some good white wines to drink are Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. As for reds, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chianti are some good choices.

Light Beer

 It’s still football season and it’s nice to have a beer with friends. Instead of choosing your favorite craft beer, try a light beer instead. With much fewer carbohydrates and calories, you’ll be able to stick to your New Year’s resolution.

 It’s hard to know exactly what you’re ordering when at a bar. Order liquor on the rocks, whiskey or plain vodka is a great choice. If you can’t handle straight liquor, get a vodka and club soda. (Club soda will be a life saver this year for mixing with all kinds of liquors.)
